Cellular Respriation

I don’t think that humans could survive with just anaerobic cellular respiration. That is because anaerobic cellular respiration doesn't need oxygen. But aerobic respiration needs oxygen our breathing provides which in turn provides us with the ATP energy we need. But we can use anaerobic cellular respiration too.It just needs to work in junction with aerobic respiration. Warm blooded animals have to work harder to maintain the cell processes. Cold blooded animals do not need to be quite so active.

  1. I like to think of anaerobic cellular respiration as being the "back up plan" of cellular respiration. Kinda like food storage is a backup for when we run out of the regular food in our fridge and cabinets. I too, don't think we as humans could survive without oxygen for too long. Our bodies just use a lot of energy.
I think one reason why warm blooded animals seem more active than cold blooded animals is because warm blooded animals, like you said, "have to work harder to maintain the cell processes"- meaning the way we acquire our body heat and maintain homeostasis is through the food we eat and air we breathe. Since cold blooded animals maintain their body temperature based on their surroundings they basically can remain in one spot and be happy. I wonder if cold blood animals eat less food then warm blooded animals?
    Good blog!
